TOP INSIGHTS

A weekly roundup of Fitbit's key feedback

1

Syncing Issues

A significant number of users, approximately 40%, report persistent syncing issues between their Fitbit devices and the app, leading to frustration and unreliable data tracking. This problem often requires users to repeatedly uninstall and reinstall the app or reset their devices.

I have to uninstall and reinstall the app at least once a week to get it to sync properly.

2

Google Integration Concerns

Around 30% of users express dissatisfaction with the forced integration with Google accounts, citing loss of data, privacy concerns, and a decline in app functionality since the transition. Many users feel that the app has become less user-friendly and more intrusive.

Since moving my account to Google, the app has completely failed and doesn't sync properly.

3

Fitbit Labs Intrusion

Approximately 25% of users are frustrated with the persistent Fitbit Labs notifications that cannot be dismissed, even after opting out. This has led to a negative user experience as these notifications take up valuable screen space.

The Fitbit Labs prompt won't leave the app home screen, no matter how many times you try to opt out.

4

Menstrual Health Tracking Issues

About 20% of users, particularly those using the menstrual health tracking feature, report that recent updates have made the feature less intuitive and harder to use. The changes have removed useful functionalities, making it difficult for users to track their cycles effectively.

The recent update has made the menstrual health tracking feature completely unusable.

Quotes of the week

Hear from some of the most impactful users to drive changes

The Fitbit app has become more cluttered and annoying to use. I mainly track steps and other activity, and use the silent alarm. I do the same activities, but 'recent' activities display a set of things I never do, forcing me to select the correct activity every day. Setting a silent alarm is now buried 4 clicks deep. These recent versions provide a less than desirable experience, and I say this with 25 years of UX experience.

I bought my parents and myself a Charge 6 and all of us have the constant 'phone disconnected' symbol on the Fitbit. It never syncs until we manually open the Fitbit app again and it takes several minutes to sync. None of us had this issue for the first month or so using the Fitbit, but the past month it has never worked correctly. This could be due to issues in the latest app release but it seems these issues plague Fitbit on iOS and Googled now owning Fitbit it seems to be less of a focus on fixing these issues.

I’ve been a loyal Fitbit user, but this experience has been unacceptable. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 16 Pro Max running iOS 18.5, and the Fitbit app freezes instantly on launch. No interaction, no workaround, nothing. I’ve tried everything - deleting and reinstalling, resetting permissions, disabled Siri integration, background refresh, Bluetooth tweaks, full OS resets - nothing works. What’s worse? Customer support is useless. No live contact. No solutions. No escalation. Just automated replies or vague 'we’ll get back to you' messages. It’s been weeks and still no one has helped me get the app working on my new phone - which is a top-tier device that should be fully supported. This isn’t just an inconvenience - this is a total failure for a health and fitness platform that people rely on. If Google can’t maintain basic compatibility between iOS updates and their own app, they shouldn’t be in the fitness game. Fitbit, do better. Or get out of the way!
