TOP INSIGHTS

A weekly roundup of Quran.com's key feedback

1

Inappropriate Ads

A significant number of users, approximately 15%, are frustrated with the presence of inappropriate ads in the free version of the app, which they find disrespectful in a Quranic context. This issue detracts from the spiritual experience and has led to dissatisfaction among users who expect a more respectful environment.

The ads are disappointing and disgraceful, featuring gambling and inappropriate content, which is unacceptable for a Quran app.

2

Subscription Model Concerns

Around 20% of users are unhappy with the shift to a subscription model, which restricts access to previously free features like offline downloads and background play. Many users feel that monetizing a Quran app is inappropriate and burdensome, especially for those who cannot afford the subscription fees.

The app was good before the subscriptions; now, many features are locked behind a paywall, which is frustrating.

3

Audio Playback Issues

Approximately 10% of users report issues with audio playback, particularly with the speed settings resetting to default after each loop or when a new Surah starts. This disrupts the listening experience, especially for those using the app for memorization purposes.

The speed control doesn't work in repetition mode, resetting to normal speed after each loop, which is inconvenient.

4

Download and Access Problems

About 12% of users have experienced problems with downloading content for offline use, which is a critical feature for those without constant internet access. This issue has led to frustration, as users rely on offline access for uninterrupted Quranic study.

The recent update prevents me from downloading content, which is frustrating as I don't always have internet access.

Quotes of the week

Hear from some of the most impactful users to drive changes

I've used this app for almost a decade now and mashallah it’s been a great tool. However, with their most recent update, they changed their policy and cannot download without subscription which is a bummer. That’s the only reason I’m not giving it a 5⭐️. I wish they can revert back to their old way of doing things.

I used this app for ages and was benefited by it immensely may Allah(SWT) reward you all. However, this recent update not allowing me to download is very frustrating in the sense that I don't always have wifi connection. I recommend going back to the previous ways and adding a donations page explaining why the donations are needed.

Until they started allowing all types of inappropriate ads to feature in their 'free app' mode, as well as removing the feature where we could listen to the Quran in the background/without being in the app itself! C’mon I understand that it costs money to run these apps but you guys are really doing too much- it’s not the same and you’re restricting access and features that we once had!
