TOP INSIGHTS

A weekly roundup of Planta: Plant & Garden Care's key feedback

1

Misidentification Issues

A significant number of users report that the app frequently misidentifies plants, leading to incorrect care advice. This issue affects approximately 20% of users, causing frustration and dissatisfaction with the app's core functionality.

The app failed to correctly identify my plants, providing useless information and making it a waste of money.

2

Subscription Frustrations

Many users express dissatisfaction with the app's subscription model, feeling that too many features are locked behind a paywall without a free trial. This affects about 30% of users who are hesitant to pay without testing the app's full capabilities.

I was disappointed to find that I had to pay for a subscription to access basic features like plant identification.

3

Notification Failures

Users have reported issues with the app's notification system, where reminders for plant care tasks are either not sent or sent at inconvenient times, affecting around 15% of users who rely on timely alerts.

The app doesn't notify me when to water my plants, which is the main reason I downloaded it.

4

Limited Plant Database

Some users find the app's plant database lacking, particularly for common vegetables and less popular plant varieties, impacting about 10% of users who cannot find their specific plants in the app.

I was surprised to find that the app doesn't even have cabbage in its database, which is quite basic.

Quotes of the week

Hear from some of the most impactful users to drive changes

I love this app, I have moderate experience, but it helps remind me to water, etc. my other plants that aren’t as frequent and I forget about (like succulents). I loved the app so much I almost immediately subscribed. I just wish there was a desktop version for Mac OSX. It gets exhausting doing it all on my phone.

I love this app… I am on my 3rd year subscribing. It is by far the best plant database I’ve found. My only wish would be to add harvesting info and reminders for vegetable/fruit bearing plants. Maybe even adding some info on what companion plants are good for each too!

I have many different plants. I chose Planta to help me diagnose issues. It asks the same questions regardless of the scan. I didn’t find ANY of its suggestions useful. Planta’s seemed all generic. Additionally, it scans and identifies the plant but requires you to add it to your inventory AND RENTER THE PLANT NAME. Why not just ask if the plant is correct and, if yes, just add it. Instead it is tedious.
